We Are Hiring: Marketing & Communications Manager

Overview

HTA is an entrepreneurial support organization (“ESO”) that develops and operates innovation programs connecting promising healthcare startups with hospitals, clinicians, investors, industry partners, and other stakeholders. Its longest-running program is HeartX, now in its ninth year of engaging cardiovascular medtech/healthtech companies from around the world with a coalition of cardiology programs throughout the U.S. More information can be found at www.HeartXaccelerator.com.

In 2026, HTA also launched the NUHTA program (www.hta.health/nuhta) in partnership with the National University Health System in Singapore (www.nuhs.edu.sg). The program’s mission is to teach, lead and engage Singaporean medtech/healthtech startups with the U.S. healthcare market, including facilitation of pilot projects and clinical trials with US hospitals.

HTA seeks a highly capable Marketing & Communications Manager to lead communications, marketing, public relations, and storytelling to support its programs.

This individual will be responsible for strengthening the organization's visibility and reputation; promoting its innovation programs; attracting high-quality startup applicants; communicating the accomplishments of participating companies; and ensuring that partners, funders, clinicians, investors, and the broader healthcare innovation community understand the impact of our work.

The ideal candidate combines strong writing and communications skills with the ability to execute. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move comfortably from developing a communications strategy to writing a press release, interviewing a startup founder, creating a LinkedIn campaign, updating a website, developing event collateral, or identifying a compelling story that deserves national attention.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and Execute the Marketing & Communications Strategy

Develop and manage an annual marketing, communications, and public relations plan aligned with organizational priorities and individual innovation programs. Establish clear objectives, audiences, messaging, communications channels, timelines, and performance measures.

2. Build and Protect the Organization's Brand

Serve as a steward of HTA’s brand, ensuring consistent positioning, messaging, visual identity, and voice across websites, presentations, social media, newsletters, press materials, events, and partner communications. Continually identify opportunities to strengthen the organization's reputation within healthcare innovation.

3. Market Programs and Drive Startup Recruitment

Develop and execute marketing campaigns for accelerators, clinical innovation programs, startup challenges, and other initiatives. Work with program leadership to generate strong applicant pipelines through targeted email, social media, ecosystem partnerships, earned media, direct outreach, and other channels. Success should be measured not simply by the number of applications generated, but by the quality, relevance, and geographic reach of applicants.

4. Lead Public Relations and Earned Media

Identify newsworthy developments and proactively pursue media coverage for the organization, its programs, partnerships, and participating companies. Draft press releases, media pitches, announcements, talking points, and executive quotes; develop relationships with relevant healthcare, technology, business, and regional media; and coordinate interviews and media inquiries.

5. Capture and Tell Startup Success Stories

Develop a systematic process for identifying, documenting, and communicating meaningful outcomes from participating companies. Stories may include clinical studies launched, hospital partnerships established, physicians engaged, regulatory milestones achieved, capital raised, commercial agreements executed, companies entering the U.S. market, products adopted, and measurable improvements in healthcare delivery or patient outcomes. Translate these accomplishments into compelling case studies, articles, videos, social content, presentations, and other materials that demonstrate the organization's impact.

6. Own Digital Communications and Social Media

Manage the organization's website and primary social-media channels, with particular emphasis on LinkedIn. Develop and maintain an editorial calendar; write and publish content; coordinate graphics, photography, and video; manage newsletters and email communications; and ensure digital channels remain current and engaging.

7. Develop High-Quality Content and Thought Leadership

Create original content that establishes HTA and its partners (MedAxiom and NUHS) as knowledgeable voices within healthcare innovation. Content may include articles, executive commentary, newsletters, founder profiles, case studies, annual impact reports, program summaries, interviews, white papers, and conference materials. Assist HTA leaders with presentations, talking points, speeches, panel preparation, and other external communications.

8. Support Events and Innovation Programming

HTA administers very few events – in person or virtually. But for those very infrequent events, the responsibility will be to lead marketing and communications surrounding demo days, pitch events, innovation summits, webinars, conferences, startup showcases, recruitment events, and other programming. Responsibilities may include invitations, registration communications, event webpages, agendas, signage, presentation materials, speaker promotion, photography/video coordination, social-media coverage, and post-event communications.

9. Manage Partner and Stakeholder Communications

Support communications with hospital partners, clinicians, corporate sponsors, investors, universities, economic-development organizations, funders, and other stakeholders. Coordinate joint announcements and co-branded materials, develop partner communication toolkits, and help ensure that partners receive appropriate recognition and understand the value generated through their participation.

10. Amplify Participating Companies

Look beyond promoting HTA itself to identify opportunities to increase visibility for startups participating in its programs. Help companies communicate major milestones, connect relevant stories with media opportunities, and amplify their announcements through organizational channels. The goal is to make participation in our programs a meaningful pathway to increase a company's visibility within the U.S. healthcare ecosystem.

11. Measure and Report Marketing Impact

Establish and maintain a practical communications dashboard measuring performance across major activities. Metrics should include website traffic, social-media reach and engagement, newsletter performance, earned-media coverage, program applications, event registrations, audience growth, partner visibility, startup success stories generated, and other indicators tied to organizational objectives. Use these data to continually improve marketing investments and communications strategy.

QuALIfications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Approximately 2+ years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, PR, content development, or a related role. However, applicants with 5+ years of relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complicated subjects into clear and compelling stories for nontechnical audiences.

  • Experience managing social-media and digital communications, particularly LinkedIn.

  • Experience developing marketing campaigns from concept through execution and measurement.

  • Strong project-management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment with limited administrative infrastructure.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with senior executives, startup founders, physicians, investors, partners, and media.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to professional-quality work.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, health technology, medical devices, digital health, life sciences, venture capital, startup accelerators, entrepreneurship, or economic development.

  • Experience working with startup founders or entrepreneurial organizations.

  • Experience with website content-management systems, email-marketing platforms, CRM systems, analytics tools, and common design platforms such as Canva or Adobe products.

  • Experience developing case studies, impact reports, executive thought leadership, or similar long-form content.

  • Basic understanding of the healthcare innovation ecosystem, including hospitals, clinicians, startups, investors, regulatory pathways, clinical studies, and commercialization.

  • Experience coordinating conferences, startup showcases, demo days, or similar events.

Characteristics of the Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

An exceptional storyteller. Able to recognize the compelling human or business story hidden inside a clinical study, startup milestone, hospital partnership, or new technology.

A strong writer. Capable of producing polished copy without requiring extensive rewriting by organizational leadership.

Entrepreneurial. Comfortable operating without a large corporate marketing department and willing to personally execute.

Intellectually curious. Interested in understanding unfamiliar medical technologies, clinical problems, business models, and emerging healthcare trends.

Proactive. Regularly identifies stories, media opportunities, partnerships, content ideas, and promotional opportunities without waiting to be assigned them.

Relationship-oriented. Comfortable developing trusted relationships with founders, clinicians, hospital executives, investors, partners, journalists, and colleagues.

Results-focused. Understands that communications should ultimately produce measurable organizational value—not simply activity.

Employment will be full time, with annual compensation commensurate with experience. A monthly stipend for health insurance will also be provided. The work will be virtual, though the applicant needs to reside in Northwest Arkansas or be willing to relocate here. Occasional attendance at onsite events in Northwest Arkansas will be required, along with occasional travel.

HealthCatalyst Northwest Arkansas Showcases Seven Startup Solutions and $20,000 Pilot Projects

Inaugural program connects innovators with Northwest Arkansas organizations to strengthen community services and support regional growth

The inaugural HealthCatalyst Northwest Arkansas program, hosted by HealthTech Arkansas (HTA) and NXTUS, Inc., culminated this week by announcing $20,000 pilot projects launched by seven Northwest Arkansas community organizations, implementing solutions offered by leading global innovators to address local health and community challenges.

Made possible by the Walton Family Foundation, Health Catalyst NWA aims to support economic growth and stronger community services through health innovation by engaging startups that are ready to help community organizations modernize and grow their capabilities. The seven pilot projects give the startups an opportunity to test their solutions in real-world settings while addressing specific needs across the region, including maternal health, addiction recovery, mobility, housing stability, and workforce development.

“Through HealthCatalyst NWA, we’ve learned that our region’s community partners aren’t just open to piloting new innovations, they’re eager to do so,” said Jeff Stinson, HTA Director. “Our differentiation around guaranteed and facilitated pilots will lead to improved community outcomes and economic growth for Northwest Arkansas, which is a major win for all of us.”

The program’s final week brought the startup winners and the community partners together in Northwest Arkansas for sessions, panels, and 1:1 meetings focused on their pilot projects and the opportunities ahead. The week’s highlight was the HealthCatalyst NWA Innovation Showcase, where approximately 150 community and business leaders gathered to hear from the startups, learn more about their solutions, and connect with the companies.

The startup winners were selected from a pool of 228 competitors representing 33 states and 25 countries. Over the coming months, the startups will continue working alongside their community partners to implement their pilot projects in Northwest Arkansas.

The 2026 HealthCatalyst NWA cohort companies and their pilot projects are:

  • Ashmi Health (Boston, Mass.): A maternal care operating infrastructure connecting expectant moms, community health workers and clinicians. Piloting with Arkansas Birthing Partners and Doula this and Doula that to support more than 100 high-risk pregnant mothers across Northwest Arkansas and the Delta counties. The partnership will stabilize the mothers' blood pressure and glucose through remote monitoring, nutrition coaching and community health worker support that removes all friction and ensures safe pregnancy and postpartum.

  • GaitIQ (San Antonio, Texas): AI-powered mobility health platform for adults 55+. Piloting with the Jones Center to integrate objective mobility measurement into existing fitness and wellness programming, establishing participant baselines and supporting earlier identification of mobility decline.

  • Huml Health (Bentonville, Ark.): Wearable AI platform enabling proactive addiction recovery care. Piloting with Arisa Health on a six-month post-discharge monitoring program for NWA substance use disorder patients, using LTE-enabled smartwatches to track real-time biometrics and flag anomalies for Arisa's care teams.

  • Life Startup Essentials (Phoenix, Ariz.): Essential home kits that help transition from homelessness to housing. Piloting with Havenwood to provide complete houseware kits to program graduates as they move to permanent housing, removing a key financial barrier to independent living.

  • Pear Suite (Tulsa, Okla.): AI-powered care navigation platform and management services for community health workers. Piloting with EverHope to conduct a billing readiness assessment and provide technical assistance to help EverHope access Medicaid and other reimbursement pathways for services it is already delivering.

  • We The Village (New York, N.Y.): Scaling evidence-based family engagement in addiction recovery. Piloting with the Arkansas Behavioral Health Integration Network to train NWA community leaders in the CRAFT family program, equipping families with skills to support loved ones with substance use disorders and expand pathways to treatment in Benton and Washington counties.

  • Welfie (San Diego, Calif.): Building and empowering the future healthcare workforce. Piloting with the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership to launch the Arkansas Rural Health Academy, a training and job placement pipeline for healthcare workers with a specific pathway to place graduates in NWA communities.

The 17 Northwest Arkansas healthcare providers and community organizations who participated in the program as community partners are: Arisa Health, Arkansas Behavioral Health Integration Network, Arkansas Birthing Partners, Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, Children's Safety Center, Communities Unlimited, Community Clinic, EverHope, Havenwood, Jones Center, Mercy, Our Blood Institute, Spring Creek Food Hub, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, UpSkill NWA, and Washington Regional Medical System.

HealthCatalyst NWA is modeled after NXTUS’s NXTSTAGE Community Health and Vibrancy Pilot Competition, which has launched more than 93 pilot projects designed to improve population health and remove barriers to community growth in Kansas. HealthCatalyst NWA brings this model to Northwest Arkansas through HealthTech Arkansas’s network of healthcare and community organizations, adapting the approach to the needs and opportunities of the region.

In addition to funding from the Walton Family Foundation, HealthCatalyst NWA is supported in part by Simmons Foods, a family-owned Arkansas company headquartered in Siloam Springs that has invested in the health and vitality of NWA communities for more than 75 years. This program also collaborates with Visit Bentonville, The Collaborative, NWA Council, and Startup NWA. To learn more about HealthCatalyst NWA, visit https://hta.health/healthcatalyst-nwa.

HEARTX CARDIOVASCULAR ACCELERATOR ANNOUNCES FIVE STARTUP COMPANIES SELECTED FOR THE 2026 PROGRAM

New Innovation Program to Strengthen Community Health Tech Economy in Northwest Arkansas

Pilot competition led by NXTUS, HTA fueled by $500,000 Walton Family Foundation Grant

NXTUS, Inc., along with HTA, today introduced HealthCatalyst NWA, a unique innovation program designed to expand growth opportunities for early-stage companies and make Northwest Arkansas a proving ground for technology tools addressing pressing needs in health and economic vitality.

The Walton Family Foundation awarded NXTUS a $500,000 grant to fund the HealthCatalyst NWA 2026 pilot program, aiming to close a critical gap in Arkansas’s innovation economy: too few pathways for the region’s nonprofits to access and implement the health- and community-tech tools offered by startups.

The program will help regional community partners and health care providers solve costly problems, while ensuring the participating startups have critical market feedback and commercial traction to move their companies forward, centered in Northwest Arkansas.

The HealthCatalyst NWA program, which will launch in January, will build on the success of the Kansas-focused NXTSTAGE Community Health and Vibrancy Pilot Competition, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, which has prompted more than 77 health and economic vibrancy innovation projects in Kansas since 2021.

“This unique program can help Northwest Arkansas continue to build its reputation and reality as a thriving region and a great place to grow a business,” said Mary Beth Jarvis, President and CEO of NXTUS. “HealthCatalyst NWA will pair local providers with leading innovators offering solutions for their most pressing challenges. With this, the region grows as a hub for promising technology tools, helping startups thrive and driving improved population health and economic-growth outcomes.”

“The Health Catalyst NWA program will be instrumental in connecting visionary startups with local healthcare and community partners,” said Yee-Lin Lai, Senior Program Officer, Walton Family Foundation. "By supporting NXTUS, we are investing in innovative solutions that will improve lives and expand the region's entrepreneurial capacity.”

By using NXTUS’s proven model and HTA’s strong network of Arkansas healthcare providers and community partners, HealthCatalyst NWA will attract both Arkansas-based and global startups to test and scale innovative solutions.

“In addition to addressing community health challenges through funded and facilitated pilots, one goal of the HealthCatalyst program is to continue attracting talent to Northwest Arkansas,” said Jeff Stinson, Director of HTA. “Startup companies conducting pilot projects here will be required to maintain a presence here, which contributes to our ever-expanding entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

To date, HealthCatalyst NWA community partners include Arisa Health, the Arkansas Department of Health, the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, Community Clinic, Havenwood, Mercy, Our Blood Institute, Spring Creek Food Hub, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Washington Regional Medical System. These organizations represent a broad cross-section of healthcare providers and community-based organizations working to advance health and well-being in Northwest Arkansas.

HealthCatalyst NWA's pilot partners will provide input on community needs, which program staff will use to scout and recruit innovative startups offering relevant technology tools. Then, staff and partners will curate a finalist group of startups deemed most promising to achieve regional goals, from which partners will select their chosen pilot projects. Funding for these pilots is included in the Walton Family Foundation grant, and startups will locate staff in Northwest Arkansas for the duration of the pilot projects, transitioning those positions to long-term residents as implementations extend to commercial contracts.

Applications for startups to compete in HealthCatalyst NWA open January 1, 2026, inviting innovative companies from Arkansas and beyond to seek pilot opportunities with leading community partners. In the spring, select contenders will be matched with community organizations to focus in on the most promising collaborations. Pilot agreements will be finalized over the summer, with projects launching in the fall, placing startup staff on site in Northwest Arkansas to implement and scale their solutions. Pilot outcomes—including community impact, job creation, and service enhancements and expansions—will provide valuable insights into the impact and future value of the program to the region.

“This year’s cohort of seven companies represents our largest cohort to date, which is a reflection of the expanding base of participating hospitals each year,” said Jeff Stinson, director of HealthTech Arkansas. “Our ability to grow HeartX both geographically and through expanded service offerings is exciting, and the partnership with MedAxiom continues to drive terrific value for our cohort companies.”

“The 2025 HeartX cohort represents the next wave of healthcare trailblazers,” said Joe Sasson, PhD, MedAxiom’s chief commercial officer and executive vice president of Ventures. “By pairing bold cardiovascular innovations with the realities of clinical practice, we are not just accelerating technology; we are reimagining what’s possible for patient care. We can’t wait to launch this journey together during a special event at MedAxiom’s CV Transforum conference.”

Representatives from 31 cardiovascular programs across the country, plus representatives from HealthTech Arkansas and MedAxiom, interviewed applicants and selected companies with technologies that have the potential to advance cardiovascular innovation and care at their respective organizations. All seven companies will have full access to clinicians and administrators while executing their pilot projects and clinical studies in the HeartX program.

HealthTech Arkansas is in its eighth year of administering accelerator programs focused exclusively on provider engagement with early-stage companies, and is now in its fourth year of partnering with MedAxiom on HeartX.
